Firstly, I’m sorry for my long absence. Lots has happened since I wrote last.

For a start – our website www.youthleader.in is active and on air! *Applause* With the help of our volunteer Tarun our online magazine has finally kick-started. And other than the technical aspect, thanks to all our volunteer writers who have provided the content and also volunteer Akanksha who is taking care of our Events section by updating the most interesting and diverse events ranging from contests to exhibitions and fairs at a global level.

Having said that we’re trying to make our online magazine a daily – with our motive being that our reader kick-starts his day with a Positive Read! Along with this the events would be constantly updated and of course our positive slideshow with the most inspiring photographs submitted by our volunteers.

It’s not just the volunteers who are contributing, we also have interns helping us. Students of MVLU college have just finished their internship and have helped us with trying to hold events, editing stories and getting more volunteers. They have been moved by the positive vibe of our magazine – that they’d all continue to volunteer ahead. As their internship ended we now have students from Manipal Institute of Communication with us. These students are spread across the country and getting good stories and working on holding events in their respective cities!

Wow! So much is happening and its all thanks to you all! Please continue to support us in whatever way you’d like to – the main being – SPREAD THE WORD!

More updates soon!

Cheers! :)

Till then – BE POSITIVE!

With the support of teams across the country we’re getting the site constructed. Soon, very soon, we’ll have the e magazine ready to be viewed and accessed by everyone!

Just wait for a few days more… :-)

Also – our event U:th-opia is being planned… We’ll be holding a pilot event in Mumbai and then under International Youth Year in Delhi, Ajmer, Mumbai and more cities too…

We’re getting T shirts with YL logo designed!!! Support us and buy the T shirts! :-) Will put up the final style selected soon…

Just want to thank everyone for their support in getting us this far… More of participation and interaction and enthusiasm – and we’ll be at the top soon… :-)

Cheers!

March 6th, 2010, marked the beginning of a new positive vibration for Indian edition. Around 35 individuals got together for this meeting, because everyone connected at a common level – interest in positive change, positive lifestyle and positive energy.

Our guests were, Mrs Meeta Vaidya from Om Heritage, Mr Deven Digwal from Greenpeace and Mr Vinod Sreedhar – who has been following the discipline called Gift Economy.

We under Youth Leader want our volunteers and readers to have a holistic development. Not just that of an evolved mind but that of a spirit, and so, we associated ourselves with Om Heritage, which follows the discipline of combining spirituality with music.

The event started at 2 pm, as scheduled and we welcomed the guests. First as a Youth Leader representative Ritika introduced our portal and concept to the participants. We also introduced them to the concept of positive news journalism. As how it is different from regular drab reporting and feature writing, and how motivating and inspirational format of writing makes us stand apart from the rest. The difference between us and most of the others – that we believe in giving everyone a HOPE.

Our first speaker was Mrs Meeta Vaidya, who spoke to students about how spirituality can help them mold into positive beings. The application of spirituality in actions and belief and the power of music. She believes that music has stronger vibrations than just words – and this it helps in creating stronger positively charged attitude and lifestyle.

We all care about our environment, we are aware of what the problems are, but what we’re not aware of is how we can help to be a part of the solution. So, our next speaker – Deven, Public engagement manager, spoke about Greenpeace’s initiatives and how all the students can be a part of active events. He spoke about how actions are important than just words. Audience was intrigued by the way this organisation functions and were keen to be a part of it. As an association, volunteers would be covering Greenpeace events for Youth Leader magazine.

Our last speaker was a person with a difference. Mr Vinod Sreedhar, a young enigmatic man, who has been following the principle of Gift economy for past two years. Gift economy follows the shloka – Karm kar, phal ki ichha mat kar – fundamental diligently. He believes in making work, pleasure. He spoke to us about how we must give our valuable services as a gift, and as what goes around comes around, with the right perspective, we’ll get enough in return to be happy.

All the participants got a chance to interact with all the guest speakers individually. We also asked all the participants to give us their feedback so that we can improve in future. Most of the people who came are willing to volunteer for us in any way they possibly can. We ended the event by 5 pm. The one thing that describes the atmosphere of the event is – Positively charged! :-)

On February 21st, Sunday, volunteers from Mumbai had got together to have a get-to-know meeting. We were about 19 of us and we met at an arena like place – in Paradise. The day was breezy and clear… a perfect setting for a positive get-to-know meet.
Students from MVLU college came and participated along with the other volunteers. They made profile pages describing likes, dislikes, their favourites, their personal cause and so on. While one person spoke, the rest asked questions about them and the interaction continued. Everyone introduced themselves, and got comfortable with each other, and we discussed the causes. Every student had a unique thought and sight to share. Every expression from all the volunteers was heard with eager ears and understood with fresh mind.
The interaction continued and we all decided collectively on our first campaign topic – Education.
- Education for the underprivilaged
- Primary education compulsory for all
- Educating youth about sustainable development

Together we can; we will

Meanwhile, we had a meeting going on in Delhi. Interested volunteers got together and discussed prospects. Priya from Delhi, took care of getting everyone together, and now we have a strong team forming in the capital!

An amazing time spent, and awaiting for the next one. See you too, if you’re here! :-)

The next meeting is on March 6th, Saturday at 2 pm…

B+

With every passing day, stories are pouring in for our very first edition. Stories from all across the country. It’s a tough task deciding which ones to be put up in the first edition of our Youth Leader India!

We’ve got students submitting stories from Mumbai as well, college interns who have worked hard and brought in the stories of their choices which I hope would interest our readers as much as they’ve interested and motivated us. Our database is extensively increasing every day with many positive change stories.

Along the path of covering stories more and more students and youth have got involved with the social aspect of our lives. The way people feel, their self motivated attitude and the zeal to make a positive difference to the world.

I’d like more of you – who’re interested in writing and have an idea to cover to please give in your suggestions. You’re most welcome to cover any positive change event happening in your city and submit to us. After all – our strength is YOU! And, we’re going to be the medium to let others know that We are the CHANGE we have been waiting for :-)

With the coming of new year the spirits are high and charged. Here’s what’s been going on these days -

1. With the help of a senior journalist – Mr P K Ravindranath – we’ve managed to get 6 college students together to volunteer for us. We’ve also got students of a college working as interns.

2. We’ve contacted Mr M V Kamat, Hon. Director of Manipal University, who heads the School of Media and he is willing to extend his support along with his students, as volunteers and interns for our magazine.

3. We’ve got a story database of more than 70 stories varying across all issues and styles.

4. We’re getting the stories written and edited – ready to be put-up online for the first edition of the Indian Portal!

5. There’s going to be a get together of students and interested volunteers on Friday – interested people, please do mail me.

Along with all this, our communication with various other green organisations is on – looking forward to converge our stories and share our ideas on our platform of Youth Leader!

Do follow us on twitter – youthleadermag, become a member of Youth Leader India group on Facebook or a fan of Youth Leader India page on FB. There’s lots to do and lots more to experience!

Peace and have a great day to all!

Hello,

It has been quite sometime since I wrote down what’s going on at our end! Well here’s the good news! LOTS is happening.

To start of with, we’re trying to get together a spot on television for our stories! Hush hush about it… but details as soon as something concrete happens…

Minimum half a dozen college walls will be adorned by our posters and newletter boards!

Quite a few college students are coming together to be a part of YL! :-)

Also, we’re getting interviews together with some of the best organisations that are working towards positive change.

Also, our twitter a/c is active… please follow us on youthleadermag … There will be more updates from across the world.

Keep a look out for further developments!

Cheers!

Well, quite a bit has happened in the past two days…

We have the e-intv from Chitra Vishwanath – eco friendly architect, and I also had the opportunity to meet her at the domestic airport! She was coming from Bengaluru and heading to Nagpur to give a lecture.  She discussed about how she got into eco friendly architecture… She gave some tips about what can we all do to make our living more ecological…

The transit meet

Ecologically reviving

She’s also given contacts of India Climate Project and TERI members – a good avenue to expand… :-)

We’ve also got a few new sites – www.mumbaivotes.com (help Mumbaikars make an informed vote) and www.co2no2.in (regarding carbon footprint) – These are a friend’s sites, and we’re going to have them added as well.

In the newsletter of Unltd India – Hub – November issue – the spotlight is on Youth leader! :-) so yippee….

We’ve got more members joining in… I’ll list down the roles of all the members in the next blog. :-)

So – this is for now! Keep looking… and there will be more!

Hello!

Today was not a very active day with respect to work… The net was down… But still, by the end of the day – got some stuff together…

There’s a competition coming where mapping technology will be taught and used to help you develop your cause…/organisation and more, so i’m going to apply for it!! for Youth leader… so that we can use the technology for our causes… its a brilliant extensive tech! :-)

So, now the application form has to be done… november 20th is the deadline… it will be damn helpful… :-) and our YL I can grow!! :-)

Also, the work on the mobile application for social work has begun!! so yippee… :-)
